HOLIDAY….on process..

due to some serious family problem, suddenly my parents decided to visit me in german!!! And once again i changed my profession from doctor to travel agent

it  is pure happiness for me to planning the whole itinerary  and to plan each little detail and make it as precise as possible. I love it!!!! to the point that the whole process of creating the itinerary sometimes becomes the best part of the whole holiday itself.

sigh…maybe i should quit my job as doctor – __-

recently i didnt felt the same spark anymore from my job. Maybe i just need a long good holiday and take a break from german.

2nd Hair diary in Deutschland

I was really occupied with my new life here and after a long time I finally realized how horrible my hair had turned into. It was completely a huge chaotic hair color   -___-

the front side looked quite normal

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

but the back side was absolutely awful!

My previous experience with hairdye was not very successful and I think I become somehow afraid to coloring my hair again. And also because I was simply too lazy to search for the good product LOL, but then seeing all those photos with such a horrible hair, I could not postponed it any longer.

So, I decided to colored my hair again ASAP. The 2nd question that popped was, which color? Black? Ash brown?

I swear I already bought 1 pack of l’oreal hair color ash brown. But then the next day, suddenly I craved for black hair. And just like that, I went again to the nearby Rossmann and buy this product. Schwarzkopf Brillance intensive color crème with blackred color.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

The tube from them was quite efficient to color my roots but it was hard to used to coloring my lower part. The next time I buy this product, I will cut the tube! Jeez! It made my entire bathroom so mezzy!

The smell was mild and bearable. But the color itself was really strong! For the entire 2 weeks, everytime I washed my hair, the water turned into red/pink color.

And here is the result.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

The last time I had black hair was 5 year ago!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Under direct sunshine the red color will show up and looked pretty!

LOL my mom was freak out when I sent her this picture! She never thought that I will had black hair again after all those year of color and bleaching, and yet at the beginning she was totally against colored hair. She always said that my skin was too dark to had color hair.

But now? LOL she told me to coloring my hair again. She finds it was strange to saw her daughter with black hair.

After a month the black hair started to faded and turned into reddish brown. Suit me better in my opinion 🙂

Japanese Viertel in Duesseldorf

Have I ever told you that I was crazy about Japanese food? It was absolutely frustrating for me that I could not find any authentic Japanese food in Dortmund. Lucky me, duesseldorf is the neighbor city from Dortmund! Every time I am craving for authentic sushi or ramen, duesseldorf is the answer. Aunthentic Japanese food created by japan people. can not asking for more!

So, if you go to duesseldorf , there is this small area that was called Japanese viertel located in Immermann strasse. It was area where you could find anything about japan. From restaurant, cafe, supermarket, bookstore, saloon to MAID CAFÉ and manga Café. And all the menu was available in 2 language, German and Japanese, ton of kanji and  hiragana katakana everywhere along the street. The first time I was here, I got this strong atmosphere that I was not in German but in Tokyo! Every little bit of corner was screaming JAPAN out loud.

I had tried several restaurant here and I will write my review:

  1. TAKUMI (ramen)

Everytime I googled what is the best ramen restaurant in Dusseldorf, the answer is always between takumi and naniwa. So I tried them both.

Takumi has a sapporo style’s ramen. The soup base was available in shoyu, shio and Miso. NO TONKOTSU based T_T too bad

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

The soup was amazing, the meat was big disappointment. It was too dried.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Gyoza was good, crunchy and delicious.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

  1. NANIWA (ramen)

Also no tonkotsu soup based T_T sigh…

The soup was similar with Takumi but the tasted is stronger

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

The meat was much more better!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Gyoza was better than takumi, but the appearance was a bit strange.

So in my side, I prefer NANIWA!

  1. NANIWA (sushi)

Right in front of naniwa ramen is the naniwa sushi. The sushi is absolutely delicious!!!! I could not asking for more. Totally authentic Japan.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

  1. Maruyasu

They sell many variant of japan food (bentos, sushi, soba and other cooked food).

The onigiri was delicious! And cheap LOL

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Sushi was so-so. Still better than the one I had in Dortmund though. The price is very friendly.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

the karaage was no-no. it looked amazing but no, it tasted really average.

  1. Café cerisier

I had tried Japanese cake before in Japan and it was the best cake I ever tried in my life. And I had big disappointment with this one. Does it taste delicious? Yes, absolutely. But does it taste like the one I had in Japan? No.

The store was joined together with the mod’s hair saloon and quite hard to noticed. It is a small store and yet very cozy. Love the atmosphere.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

The guanaja schokomousse was much much better than the mont blanc. The schoko cake tasted absolutely delicious with a mixture of bitter chocolate with vanilla cream. The gold leaf makes the appearance really beautiful.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

The mont blanc, it tasted so-so. To be fair, I am always a big fan of chocolate and not a big fan of nut. Maybe that is the main reason I don’t liked this one.

For the supermarket, I visited 2 supermarket, Dae yang and Shochiku. Daeyang is a hybrid between japan and korea, so you could find some of the korea authentic stuff here and they provided many variant snack and stuff, more than shochiku. But in other side Shochiku sold fresh fish (sashimi quality) and beef that was typical stuff for Japan market such as sukiyaki beef and unagi (YES UNAGI!!!). I also tried a cheese cake? I don’t quite sure but it tasted so GOOD!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Buy furikake and pasta sauce too. It was soooo delicious! I will buy the mentaiko pasta sauce again!

Totally in love with this city! I totally recommend you readers too visited this small street and enjoy Japan in German.

Japan Tag 2016

Japan tag!!!!

Honest, I was really surprised when I found about this festival in Internet. It just show up from nowhere in my facebook timeline, and I was extremely thrilled! Japan festival in Germany!

So I booked my ticket and went there to enjoy my japan tag festival.

When I arrived in the train main station (hbf), the festive atmosphere was already spread to the entire city and the station! I could see many people walking in the street with costume (cosplay) and it was really a culture shock for me.

I had many experience with anime/cosplay festival in Indonesia and never ever I saw so many people with their full costume walking around happily in the street as if it was normal thing to do. And no one starred at them with judgmental or pervert eyes. I could not imagine what will happened if people with their costume walking in the street in Indonesia LOL

My entire plan was spend the day in the festival area near the river. BUT. That day was quite hot and I was occupied with so many delicious food in the street toward the main stage, and I ended up arriving too late to the main stage T_T seriously Dusseldorf is definitely a heaven for japan’s food lover! The sushi and ramen are very authentic and delicious. I will post about it in my next post.

There were many booth that was already closed and I could only enjoyed a few but it was really interesting. From cultural show, traditional dance, kimono showcase, to nandaroid, action figure and cosplay properties.

The cosplayer were extremely cool! Very friendly and good looking *blush*

Favorit of the day was the assassin creed cosplay team. Super mega cool!!!!!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

And special pose only for me 😛

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Have I ever told you that I had zombie fetish? If the world must come to end, please make it zombie apocalypse and I would gladly be eaten by zombie LOL

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

he was very friendly and posed in front of camera even though i was to shy too asked him to posed for me!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

The zombie cosplayer was very friendly despite the gore appearance LOL they even play with the children

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Naruto girl version and kakashi sensei, both looks very gorgeous!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Darthvader!!!!! My favorite villain ever

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Many cosplayer and people wore this big sign “FREE HUG” and apparently there was free hug event toward the evening.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

TONS of  people in the street!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

Beautiful side of Dusseldorf

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

the sky that day was very pretty blue, just like a paint of brush

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

after this pose, strong wind blew my hat! and it falled to the restaurant below the bridge and i punched my husband eyes when i tried to catch my hat. I swear it was unintentional LOL

the closing event was the super spectacular 25 minute fireworks show. This was my first firework show that have meaning behind all those beautiful show. The theme of this year was “tree, flower, animal-world of nature”. They consist of 5 scene:

  1. Opening show, thunder
  2. Blue ocean
  3. Plant and animal
  4. Rainbow
  5. Final, gold rain

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESSAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

It was beyond speech, everything was very beautiful and grandiose. Absolutely perfect closure to wrap the entire day.

my first spring in Germany

For someone who spend 28 year in tropical land, spring is something that I could never experienced before. I had experienced winter and fall before during my holiday. In my case, i never ever will be a fan of snow or winter. I hate cold. As for fall, it is indeed such a beauty, but spring is the winner. Spring is officially my favorite season of the year!

All the flowers are totally mesmerizing! But the one that really stole my heart is this pink small flower. SAKURA!

I totally adore Sakura since I was small. Reading all those manga from Japan, they always mention about how beautiful this small flower. It was quite hard for me to imagine how could one big tree had no leave and instead covered by small pink flower. But after witnessing it by my own eyes, i totally understand why so many people fall in love with sakura.

Near where I live, there was this street, and the whole street had a long array of sakura tree! OMG! The first time I saw it, I scream out loud, screaming from the top of my lung “SAKURAAAA!!!!”

I had a pink carpet beneath my foot!

1st hair diary in Deutschland

Another hair journey of mine

This time I was having a really had great doubt to dye my hair. I was considering to dye my hair to black and just playing safe. Why? Because I had hard time to choose new brand to replace my favourite brand ever. LIESE.

Previously I had tried many cream hairdye from Europe brand, and honestly speaking, I still think the japan brand are definitely the best.

Another hair dye that I had tried before is the hair dye foam from Schwarzkopf, and the result was quite good. That’s why this time I choose another hair dye foam from Schwarzkopf. The perfect mousse in chocolate souffles color or in Deutsch, helles schokogold/ light chocolate gold. Quite a safe color to experience.

The positive side:

  1. The smell! I could not smell the annoying chemical at all. It was just like what they said in the box, free amonia.
  2. Easy to used
  3. My hair was not so damaged as when I used the other hairdye

The negative side:

  1. It was SO TINY! My hair is only medium length, and yet I could not used it to dye all my hair. I need 2nd box, and I didn’t have it. Completely disaster T_T
  2. My root was still dark T__T it didn’t penetrated my black hair

As you can see from the picture, this time my hair was..err… a little bit chaotic. The next time I used this product I will definitely buy 2 box. BUT then again, it was completely unexpected for my medium hair length.

Sigh…I really don’t know what should I do with my hair next T__T

where to eat cheap in Kyoto? (10)

During my stay in Kyoto, i spend every dinner in 1 place, the mighty Kyoto Station! Usually I dine first in the ramen village in 10th floor, and then for late snack and breakfast I buy them at the supermarket in basement.

IMG_8585

IMG_8525

IMG_8524

Great tips for all of you who was travelling on budget, always buy your dinner in supermarket near the closing hour, because they will give additional discount!

IMG_8497

fresh tuna with only 500 yen? totally worth your money!

IMG_8498

fresh salmon sashimi for only 440 yen!

IMG_8481

but unfortunately some of them wont be on discount T_T

IMG_8480

ALWAYS pick a box with discount sticker on it. Dont ever pick the other box, because only the box with sticker will be discounted!

I really really love to exploring the supermarket in Japan. All the cuteness and all of the interesting thing, and of course all of the yumminess, are hard to miss out.

IMG_8479

IMG_8483

They sold flowers! To eat?! Maybe LOL

IMG_8477

For japaner, fruit are serious business, the fruit were all in high quality, cute packaging and detail about the origin of the fruit.

And they also have the tradition to gave omiyage during their holiday, and you will saw ton of cute and delicious looking omiyage in Japan.

I totally recommend this karage. Best karage ever! The crunchiness was simply the best I ever tried. I bought this karage everyday during my stay in Kyoto LOL

Arashiyama Jojakkoji and Seiryoji(9)

From the bamboo groves, we continued to walking to explore Arashiyama. Our next target temple was Jojakkoji temple. Along the way here, we came across many other small temple but due to budget reason, we choosed not to explored everything. Too bad T_T

In contrast to the south part of Arashiyama, the north part was more serene, secluded and not so overcrowded with tourist. The temple was not so grand and big but they do gave a different vibe.

IMG_8457e

Jojakkoji temple was builded in 1596, and the reason why I choosed this temple was because from here I could saw the view of arashiyama from above (according to the guide In internet) but unfortunately that day was very misty and I could not got a clear view.

IMG_8446e

IMG_8447e

The main hall was also under renovated until summer 2016, but I didn’t regret to entry this temple at all. The maple trees along the mountain pathway was extremely beautiful and surreal, not to mention, that I was the only the tourist at that time

IMG_8445e

SAM_0403e

SAM_0404e

IMG_8448e

Imagine, I could got the priviledge to enjoy all of this view, just by myself….! (and my husband of course LOL)

IMG_8449e

one peculiar thing that i realized here, that the people here had a tradition to stack a stone for whatever reason i dont understand. AND the most important question, HOW THE HELL THE STONE REACH THERE? It was quite high!

IMG_8450e

Our next target was Gioji temple, a small temple that famous for its moss garden and located in the middle of the wood that looks extremely beautiful in Internet. Before the trip here, I had noted all the temple location, but still I could not found the way to this temple. In front of us was a couple of European, who apparently also tried to find this temple, but both of us had no luck! I was so sure it was the right street but all I saw was a dead end T_T

Then we decided to ate something to warm our body and to rest our leg too. We choosed random café in the street and heck yeah, everything tasted good here. We ordered tsukune udon, and it smells so good that we didn’t even care to took a picture. We ate it very quickly LOL and for the dessert I ordered matcha and some kind of round cake/mocha ? It was the best matcha I ever tasted. For the first time I finally tasted the real matcha!

IMG_8460e

Later, I found out from the owner lady of the cafe, to reach Gioji temple you must go through a small street between the big trees. The small path was right in front of my eyes, but at that time I was too scared to took the pathway -__- well, it didn’t looked like a pathway to a temple, more like a way to forest. Very small street! I didn’t manage to reach this small but beautiful temple, but I hoped you reader will found it. You want to know how beautiful this temple? Please look to this website http://regex.info/blog/2007-06-16/491 such a beautiful picture!

Then we asked her, how to reach Daikakuji temple. Daikakuji temple is one of the most famous temple in Arashiyama and famous for its pagoda. FYI the kind lady in the café, she coudnt speak English, but by body language and super broken English, she told me that it was too far too reach daikakuji by foot. And it was already quite late (16.00) and she wasn’t sure that we could arrive before closing hour. So she recommend us to visit another temple that was also famous in arashiyama, the seiryoji temple.

It was the first time I heard about this temple and I don’t had any expectation or imagination about this temple, but what could I say? 1st Rule of travelling : Always go with the locals. After all they know the best! So we made a sudden change of plan and try to found the way to the seiryoji temple just by a small map from the kind lady. Thanks God I don’t get lost in the middle of arashiyama LOL

IMG_8458e

Random house in the street that looks super Japan

It was great decision to follow her suggestion, seiryoji temple or saga shakado was indeed one of the most memorable temple for me. The temple itself was famous by the wooden standing statues of shaka (buddha) and one of the 3 most famous buddha in Japan. The temple was constructed in 895 as a replica of wutai shan of china, no wonder some part of the temple had a china vibe in it.

IMG_8462e

IMG_8463e

SAM_0405e

1 big plus point for this temple is that they allowed tourist to enter the main hall and enjoyed all the relic and the sacred altar right close. The temple had vast collection of national treasures that was very interesting to see. By the time we were ready to leave, the friendly lady who was standing near the casheer suddenly came to us. And make a sign for us to followed her, at that time my first thought was “OMG I must doing something wrong!” apparently no. The lady was trying to show us that the we could open the back door of the temple and enjoyed the garden part of the temple! GOD! What a kind lady!!!!

SAM_0410e

SAM_0411e

And what she had lead us into , was a tremendous view! It was freaking beautiful, and again, it was MY private garden! No one there!!!! It was really2 special!

SAM_0418e

After enjoying the view, we came back to the front door but apparently the kind lady was not there anymore. Arigatou obaasan!

During our way to reach the train to Kyoto, we found this right in front of someone home.

IMG_8472e

It was freaking cheap, and no one keep eyes. Just relies on honesty. I really appreciated all the kindness of this arahiyama people. They were soooo friendly and kind and so helpful! I wish I could had another chance to visit this beautiful place

Arashiyama Tenryuji temple and the bamboo groves(8)

It was our 4th day in Japan! We planned to spend the entire day in Arashiyama, the thunder (arashi) mountain (yama). To reach arashiyama I used the JR sagano line from Kyoto station. The ticket is quite cheap (240yen). It was 17 minute train ride and we arrived safely in sagaarashiyama station. If you have extra budget, instead of taking normal train, there is saga scenic railway that will take you to the best scenery of Arashiyama. And if you really have extra budget, you can choose hozu river boat tour to enjoy the view of river and the mountain. If you poor like me? then stick to the normal train LOL

Before the train ride, I bought this cute bento, for our lunch, just because it looks so adorable, with shrimp, yellow and pink color which i dont have a slight idea what that is. Hana no bentou, it sure looks like flower (hana)

IMG_8436e

In Kyoto station (and  basicly in every big station in Japan) you could find ton of shop that sold cute bento just like this. And every station had it own speciality too!

IMG_8421e

According to the weather forecast, today will be heavy raining all day, but we still thinking positively  “Hey there would be no many people! I could take many picture without people! How luxury treat!” Well… this positive thinking was proved to be true, I could took a ton of beautiful picture of arashiyama, the only problem was it WAS RAINING so heavy that it was hard to used my camera T_T

The moment we arrived, it was already start to raining. And the sky looks so gloomy and mist was everywhere.

i bet it will totally pretty during the spring and fall with all the colorful leaves and flowers.

Our next destination was to took a pleasure walk in the world famous bamboo garden of arashiyama. Pleasure walk? NOPE. What we got was a total reverse of pleasure. By the time we walk through it. The raining pour so hard! Totally chaos! But I managed to took some picture even though my camera was wet T_T

even with the shitty weather, some of the girls are still wearing a yukata with the uncomfortable geta (traditional japan shoes). Talking about women and their fashion commitment. Hail to the fashion!

After that we decided to take a rest and ate our lunch. Remember the cute lunch that I bought before? It tasted awful. The most uneatable food I ever ate in Japan. During our lunch we were  completely wet and cold. There was a doubt in our mind, do we really want to continue to explore north arashiyama or just going back to Kyoto. Well, just because of the rain was so heavy and there was almost no human is visible near us! It was almost like a forest with no human! Kinda creepy

Then suddenly the rain stop pouring and become bearable, so we decided to continue the path!
